The Venerable Bédé is a Web offshoot of a column published regularly in Comics Now! magazine. The mandate of the column — and this site — is to introduce comics readers from a North American background, particularly a mainstream background, to the broad world of Franco-Belgian comics. 

The site will feature expansions of column material (interviews, reviews, second-tier column content), as well as podcasts (Exploring Bédé with Bryan Deemer and Matt Shepherd), examinations of bédé as a genre, reviews of material not covered in the column, and more.

Our intention is to be the site of reference for English-language information on bande dessinée.
