There’s an interesting overview of comics from a broad arts perspective up at ArtsEditor, written by Christopher Panzer, right now. It sort of glosses over the three broad global comics traditions, and I’m not sure how seriously I can take something that says
Frank Miller’s hardcover 300 (1998) …[is one of the] most recent examples of the genre and emblematic: more serious, more mature, more literary than comics
…but it’s nice to see the arts world occasionally stir in its sleep and blink lazily at the dynamic world it too often dismisses as lowbrow.
